Mindful Art with Horses Workshops coming up! + Planning a magical experience at Horse & Heart Ranch + A bit of art
Published about 1 month ago • 4 min read
I'm abuzz with workshop plans!
This past month I've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes and in conversations with beloved partners, and I'm so excited to get to finally share what's coming up! I am looking forward to a fall full of workshops - both online and in-person. If you've been thinking about joining a workshop, but have been "sitting on the fence," now's a great opportunity to find one that works for you! Check out the different options available below, and reach out to me with your questions and thoughts. At the bottom of the newsletter you'll find an exclusive art bonus, too. 💕
Four different online workshops coming up:
Why join an online workshop? Online workshops are great for getting to join from the comfort of your own space, which can be a real support when you're stepping outside of your comfort zone, as well as a much-needed accessibility option for many of us. You get to make your space comfortable, choose your own materials, and don't have to show anything on camera (including yourself!) if you don't want to. An added special benefit is that we get to connect with others around the world sharing this experience in a small, supportive group. Being a very experienced and engaging online facilitator, you can trust that I will be there for you to help you navigate the technology and feel connected.

Planning for a magical time at Horse & Heart Ranch
Jeanne sketching Oliver at Horse & Heart Ranch with the ocean in view
I'm delighted to be able to offer an in-person mindful art workshop this fall with the beautiful and diverse herd at Horse & Heart Ranch in Soquel, California. If you've been following my art journey recently, you'll have seen many art pieces inspired by not only the horses but also this powerful setting - nestled up against a redwood forest with the ocean on the horizon and glorious breezes from both! During in-person workshops, the horses are able to step into more leadership, always bringing surprises and lessons for us. The mindful art practices help unlock our ability to be present and receive what the horses have for us. No horse experience is required and no art experience is required for this workshop. All materials provided. Spaces are limited, so register today!

“Jeanne created a warm and inviting space to let our creative juices flow while giving us insightful prompts. It was really great to be invited to find our own flow and pace while challenging ourselves. It was a great balance. As a horsewoman I loved connecting to the horse’s essence and was surprised how I was able to do that in an online format.” - online workshop participant “Jeanne is a WONDERFUL facilitator. I love how she blends creativity and horses together. When I took her workshop, my inner child was able to come out and express herself. Jeanne’s soft, no-judgement approach allows space for curiosity and play. The different exercises she led us through opened up more compassion and gentleness for myself, which was so nice to practice being in a space of expression over imperfection. I HIGHLY recommend anything Jeanne does, whether you identify as a creative or not. her workshops can connect you with the joys of your inner child. Thank you Jeanne!”

🩷 And a bit of art...
"Pink Mustang" 6x8 inches, crayon and watercolor
This loose sketch in watercolor and crayon was one of my favorite pieces I made from a beautiful life drawing session with equine artist Ginger De Value at Beyond Liberty sanctuary last fall. I've now added it to my online shop, and giving you the first heads up as thanks for your support.
Let me know any time if you have questions about the workshops. I hope to see you there! Jeanne

I've been looking for joy wherever I can... Life and the world continue to be challenging and heavy. Moments of joy sustain me, and art making is one of my go-to ways to find it. (I also like to follow a tip from my partner: "Looking for joy? Have you checked under your cat?") The joy in the curve As any artist can tell you, being an "artist" doesn't mean art making automatically brings you joy. Sometimes we have to give ourselves permission. We have to find ways to bring in the play and the...

Making a lot of art... so what? I made a lot of art this June! Sometimes it’s like that - I churn through paper and am overflowing with ideas. Other times things slow to a trickle. Hanging up art to look at it after a painting session on my birthday. Now in my fourth decade making art, I’m noticing I don’t get as hung up on my pace. If I am making art frequently, I let go of the idea that that means I will keep making art frequently. If I am not making a lot, I don’t assume that means I’m...
